Ben concentrates his practice in commercial and residential transactional matters regarding documentation, recordation, taxation, insurance and compliance.  He also has experience handling multi-faceted transactions for financial institutions, including national, regional and community banks, credit unions, and lending service companies, including the acquisition, leasing, development, and refinancing of real estate and other secured collateral.

Mr. Fortkamp has extensive experience negotiating and documenting commercial loans, purchase and lease agreements, and inter-creditor and participation agreements. He has also served as counsel to several title agencies, both in Maryland and Ohio.

Immediately prior to HWK, Ben was an Assistant County Attorney representing the Baltimore County Division of Real Estate Compliance, handling the acquisition and disposition of County-owned real property.

Originally from Baltimore, Ben lives in Towson with his family and serves on the Board of Governors for the Loyola Blakefield Alumni Association.
